The Lions would like Montgomery to return in 2026, but only if he wants to be back. If not, there are places for the team to pivot with its backfield setup.
Of all the names on your list, Justin, I think Allgeier is the best fit for this team… talent wise, price wise and situation wise. There would be those who will drool over the thought of Walker being a Lion, but the guy is a welcome mat in pass-pro. No way will Brad and Dan open that door.
I wonder if Vaki might move back to safety, which was his primary position at Utah. He doesn't have any special talent that couldn't be replaced at league minimum as a running back.
I think it's relatively unlikely. The Lions didn't draft him because of his skill set at safety. They evaluated him as a running back, with the same decision-makers and same coaches. He's spent no time in defensive meetings, so he would be like a rookie all over again.
And ... there you go, Monty got traded.
Take Kenneth Walker now.
As for Vaki, he’ll be in his third year right? About time he gets some touches … why not trade DM and plug Vaki in?
Different style backs. Vaki is more of a third-dowj, two-minute guy, making his skill set closer to Gibbs'.
maybe we are good. stupid comment from espn(shocked!) saying monty wants out prompts a tweet from him that seems that is not the case.
Echo allgeier comments. Dude is highly underrated
