When do they name the all stat team? Seems they've become more important than ability,

none of uss know much about allen off the field and in the qb room. this is an important role for the backup--to make the starter better prepared. on the field, he looked good for a backup.

Jared Goff haters take note!

What is going on with the burglary case in Tampa, Florida and Terrion Arnold? I just saw a report on the Tampa local news. Arnold is linked to the alleged burglars (at least one a member of Arnold’s security) and an Air B&B rented by Arnold. What is the full story?

If the team is concerned about someone who can play a few games, Allen seems like a good choice. If they are going to draft a QB to develop then Teddy makes sense if he wants to play another season. If they want a QB1 whisperer, whoever Jared wants.

I agree with this. As Pat Kirwan had always said, your backup QB should be someone that can go 2-2 if your starter goes down for 4 games. If your starter is down beyond that, your season is probably toast anyways.

It's not a great list. Looking at character, potential positive vs negative impact on the locker room, and actual ability, I'm actually thinking Teddy Bridgewater is the best pick. And he's retired.

Daniel Jones isn't going anywhere. Willis is ready to play- no more back up- and he'll be expensive. Rogers is a head case, Wilson is a head case. Mariota...possibly. He'd be better than Kyle Allen.

We've been very lucky that Goff always shows up. He's smart enough to avoid getting massively hit. Yes, he dumps the ball, but he's around to play another drive, another week. The best talent anyone can have is availability.

Speaking of which, I think the Lions have to be considering drafting a young guy (or getting one in a trade) to learn from Goff with an eye on 2-3 years up the road. It's time to consider the next QB for when Goff is aging or injured.

As of now we don't have a 3rd and with our other needs taking a qb within rounds 1 & 2 seems foolish. I think our best bet is re-signing Kyle and if a late rd qb appeals we carry three.

I was not thinking of using an early round to grab a QB. Outside of 1, possibly 2 guys every year, most QBs don't turn into instant talent. Many don't do anything, including higher picks (i.e. Andrew Ware, Joey Harrington). This year's crop is not great. But I would not hesitate to grab a guy in later rounds, IF he had some talent. Not everyone gets press coverage. Going forward- AFTER we've filled in existing gaps, this has to be addressed. We're one Goff injury or 3 years away from needing a new QB. Time to groom one is now.

Yeah my intent wasn't to argue with your comment merely to expand on it a bit.

Let’s just hope Goff stays healthy, that list is pretty sad

It's the reason why I have no faith in an alternative league working out. If the top 90 or so QBs are employed by the NFL, and we're scoffing at guys who would be 25-50 on that list, what can we reasonably expect from No. 91?

Very kind to call Russell Wilson past his prime. I’d say he’s closer to done like an overcooked steak.

Ouch.

True, but…ouch. 🙂
