5 thoughts to end the week: On the 'We're good' crowd, praise for a Lions' assistant, and future of nickel job beyond 2025
Allen Park — Here are five thoughts to end the week as the Detroit Lions prepare to travel to Baltimore for a Monday night showdown with the Ravens.
Always with the pitchforks
From the moment Marcus Davenport first exited last Sunday’s game, and after every ensuing update provided on the oft-injured defensive end’s status, there’s been a sardonic two-word refrain that inevitably floods the replies.
“We’re good.”
It’s a mocking repetition of what coach Dan Campbell has said not once, but twice, about the team’s defensive line depth during his weekly appearances on the team’s flagship broadcast partner, 97.1-FM.
The comment, which I’d contend is merely a public vote of confidence in the other options on the roster, has been latched onto and amplified by the vocal segment of the fan base that’s spent the entirety of the offseason fretting about Detroit’s edge depth opposite Aidan Hutchinson.
