6 takeaways from Thursday's free agency happenings, including introductory chats with 3 newest Lions

Allen Park — The Detroit Lions introduced three new additions to the local media on Thursday, reached an agreement with a young, veteran defensive back, and bid farewell to another key contributor from the 2025 roster.
Let’s close the book on the second day of the new league year with six takeaways on the happenings.
Bringing the juice
The spacing of the day’s events was clunky. That’s hardly unusual for free agency as additions are flying in from around the country, meeting people in the building and getting physicals done before meeting with the media.
The first session was in the morning, with offensive tackle Larry Borom. Five hours later, we met center Cade Mays. And the day’s access concluded with running back Isaiah Pacheco in the waning minutes of the afternoon.
Borom and Mays were both reserved. That’s not uncommon for incoming free agents. After all, they’re talking to strangers in a new place. You don’t want to say the wrong thing, to make a poor first impression, during your first day on the job with a new employer.
Totally reasonable.
But every once in a while, we get someone like Pacheco. With a smile that lit up the room, he spoke with unbridled enthusiasm about this opportunity in Detroit and his quest to “show that the real (No.) 10 is back."
