A takeaway from every Detroit Lions draft picks' post-selection media session

Allen Park — Following each of the Detroit Lions’ seven picks in the 2026 NFL draft, those prospects met with local media via a Zoom call, with the team’s first-round choice also conducting a full press conference the day after his selection.

Here’s a takeaway from each of those conversations.

Offensive tackle Blake Miller

In addition to chatting twice with the former Clemson standout, we had the opportunity to talk with Miller’s college coach, Dabo Swinney, a former coach of the year who has won two national championships at the school and sent dozens of players to the NFL.

Coaches can provide historical context, from recruiting to development. The focus of the conversation is on the positives, which makes sense given being selected in the first round is the culmination of years of hard work, but the way Swinney talked about Miller was particularly glowing.
