Out of curiosity, Justin, since you mentioned Stafford still owning the top three seasons of passing yardage in team history, did all three of those come in a 16 game season? I love what Goff has done with the Lions, but Stafford is still the best Lions QB I've seen in my lifetime (earliest Lions QB memory is Gary Danielson).
Not a popular opinion here, but I think the front office told us what they thought during last post season. When we needed a backup QB in a pinch, we went with Teddy, not Hendon. That's it for me. He's not ready and not going to be ready. I think the team moves on from Hooker this season, maybe even during camp cutdowns.
We are making too much of them bringing in Bridgewater last year. Hooker had 33 total snaps and in a mop up role, it would be hard to put something on him like starting in a playoff game if Goff was injured. Teddy on the other hand was still in great shape, still had the zip in the arm and knew NFL defenses inside and out.
Allen to me is the perfect 3rd QB, see how they talk about how he had a great grasp for whatever offense he was in, that great for scout team stuff. But if we are talking playing or even starting give me the upside of Hooker, he seems like someone the team would rally around.
i wonder what the lions could get in a hooker trade? goff is good for another 5 years+ and if hooker wants a shot at starting somewhere then it may make sense
Unfortunately the only way I can see Herndon having any trade value better than a 5th or maybe 6th rd pick is if he gets to play significant regular season snaps. Also unfortunately the only way that happens if if Goff is injured.

Yes, Stafford was gone when 17 game season went into effect in 2021.

I disagree and don't think there's any precedent for development stopping after one full season, particularly at the QB position.

If Hooker kills it during the preseason he might have a better market. But right now he’s a huge question mark.

A conditional sixth, maybe. Backups are generally only worth more than backups if they've proven it at the NFL level.
Good morning Justin,
You said it better than I did. You should do this for a living.
