A first-round pick out of South Carolina State in 1992 — No. 26 overall — Porcher spent his entire 13-year career with the Lions. He holds the franchise’s official single-season and career sack records.
Rich Nemesi, you’re crazy saying that Hanson doesn’t deserve to be up there. At a time when Lions seemingly couldn’t get anything right, Jason Hanson was are one solid rock. You could always count on him in the clutch. Until we got Jake Bates over a decade later our special teams were atrocious. Hanson, Porcher, and Sanders gave our state of Michigan something to root for when we had nothing. Hanson most absolutely deserves to be up there. As does Porcher.
Sorry, neither he or Hansen deserve the honor. Three pro bowls is great but not elite. Is every three time pro bowler getting a blue jacket? If so, that wall is going to be really crowded.
Feels like Lions are honoring longevity versus performance. Also, both players were part of really bad era in Lions football. That should matter.
One other thought: Get Ragnow a Blue Coat and name on wall ASAP.
He IS what a true Lions should be. An offensive version of Spielman with more talent. Unique, game impacting skills with an unmatched determination…He played with a broken throat. We’re going to miss him.

The team better leave some room for this current crop of players.

Absolutely agree. Both “above-average” but not “great”.

Hanson retired as one of the top kickers of all time and Porcher is the franchise sack leader (sacks weren’t an official stat until 1982)
The first jersey I bought and one of my all time favorite players.
Well deserved, what a great selection.😎👍 He's another guy underrecognized for his work during the 'before times'.
