Hi Justin- isn’t it well known that the Lions actually tried to trade up for Chase? (Which still would have been smart) but then were ecstatic when Sewell fell to them?

I never believed the veracity of that report. Anything that starts with "There was chatter early in the week" without suggesting even where the anonymous source is coming from is suspect.

In hope the Lions aren't going to be looking ahead to KC. This game should be a cakewalk meaning the Bengals will only win if the Lions flub it. I was always thinking that if a QB was going to break the record for the most passing yards in a game (554), it would be Burrows. But heck, I am not that anxious to see him play again.

I still don’t understand why the Bengals defense is so bad.

Shots fired Justin. High quality well-deserved shots though. The Bengals have operated as the antithesis of the Lions since 2021 and the results speak for themselves. You love to see it. Burrow is on the Palmer plan in Cincinnati.

I really enjoyed this article…great background on Cincinnati! I had forgotten they selected Chase over Sewell. To borrow a line from an Indiana Jones movie, my comment to Brad is "You have chosen... wisely".

The Bengals' recent draft philosophy reminds me of the bad old days in Detroit. They draft players like Stewart and Murphy who have impressive measurables but spotty college production, then wonder why they don't play better now that they're drawing an NFL paycheck. And the few picks that actually pay off then get into public disputes with the front office and either get overpaid or leave--which of course leads to other guys leaving. All very familiar, but thankfully those memories are now a little harder to recall.
