Allen Park — An annual storyline the past three offseasons, the Detroit Lions finally added an edge defender in the draft to complement superstar Aidan Hutchinson. And they went to the same well in Ann Arbor to find that missing piece, selecting Derrick Moore out of Michigan.

“We’ve always (liked) the length and the physicality and the power in the past, but didn’t really feel like his rush was quite there yet,” Lions general manager Brad Holmes said after selecting Moore. “But this year, he really got better. And then when he went down to Mobile, Ala. at the Senior Bowl. He strung together a really good week rushing the passer. He’s another one that has a (high) floor coming in, but he’s getting better and better and better.

“…I don’t see why that’s going to stop in this ecosystem,” Holmes continued. “Really, really excited because it’s hard to find guys — I’m not going to say we’re picky — but we just have a certain type that we like, and he fits those boxes.”
