Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell said this weekend that he doesn’t anticipate Marcus Davenport’s chest injury to be season-ending. Still, the defender will miss at least the next four games, starting with Monday night's matchup against the Ravens, after being placed on injured reserve by the club.
Seems like when he was with the Vikings he played well (too well) against the Lions. But then my memory is not always that great. Anyway, I was hoping we would see that MD in Honolulu Blue. Hope we get a good half season from him. No reason to criticize him, he certainly wants to remain healthy.
Hope he can recover, but the track is obviously not good. Agree that the knives out about this from fans and media (DFN excepted) have been ridiculously sharp.
Some times you just roll the dice and you get blank sides. Maybe Marcus and Alim make appearances in late October and they give a boost to the D-line. They may be kind of forced to make a trading deadline move if things are looking in-between-ish.
What's the time cutoff for a game to count as one of the 4 minimum? Do the Lions have right up until kickoff to do this, or do they have to do it before the game week ends?
I got to admit, it almost feels like some people in Detroit were hoping for this to happen. It was literally the only thing anybody could talk about when Davenport's name came up. I'm rooting for him to finish the season strong.
I didn't talk about Davenport at all, but the people who did turned out to be correct. The Lions have received very very little return in exchange for his salary and roster spot. It's just a fact.
It's not something I'm proud to say, but the more I like the team the less I like the fans. Everybody will tell you how they're diehard Lions fans who've endured tears, ruined Thanksgivings and ridicule, but a lot of them don't seem to have any gratitude unless there's a Super Bowl win to brag about.
If his recovery is limited to four games, there are still 11 regular season games afterwards. He could still help the Lions and I hope he does. The Lions brain trust obviously feels that Marcus is a better Edge than anybody else they have when he's healthy, so let's hope he gets healthy.

Since week 7 is one week before the bye it is likely they wait till the week after the bye to bring him back off IR if he is able IMO
I think it just depends on the injury and recovery. If he's not 100% at four weeks, there's no point in having the discussion.

4 p.m. Saturday for a Sunday game. 4 p.m. day of for a weekday primetime contest.
This game against Baltimore is game 1 of the 4.
Let's see if Tyrus Wheat has any pass rush and edge contain juice?

I think a healthy Davenport isn't any better than what we'll have out there the next four weeks.
