The New York Giants played like they had nothing to lose. It served them well until it didn't, allowing the Lions to pull off the comeback and keep their NFC North title hopes afloat.
Any given Sunday is true in this league. We lose that game pre Campbell era. Similar games ...Houston last year. Chicago at home the year before. They keep playing when things don't go their way. That is GRIT. are we perfect? NO. Did we get a few breaks in that game YES. The point is keep playing. HUTCH is a perfect example. Gibbs is special...literal EXPLOSIVE OT run that was. #onepride
Happy for the dub, and OT was a blast, but I'm done trying to figure out this team. They are so wildly unpredictable and inconsistent week-to-week that every game, regardless of opponent, is a toss up. We could beat an 8-2 team by 30 or lose to a 2-9 team and give up 30 and I'd be like: "Yeah, that clocks." Mediocre team play with one of the best players in the world saving our bacon is not a recipe for success. Our O-line is officially trash. Now our secondary looks, frankly, terrible. Our offense looks confused and still out of sync. Could we win it all? Sure, why not. Could we lose the rest of our games? Totally possible. The Detroit Lions are the quantum physics of the NFL.
It backfired, but I thought Kafka's decision to go for it and try to put the game away was sound. If you "take the points" you're up six but you have to kick off, and Detroit probably gets decent field position. How much easier is it to get a field goal starting from inside your own 10 than it is to get a touchdown after starting with a kickoff return? A little, sure. Not enough to make me think the Giants shouldn't have tried to win the game right there.
While John's decision to attack and try to seal the game was courageous, from a certain perspective, skipping the free throw might have been a safer move, especially given the increased risk of giving the opponent position. Indeed, starting a drive within 10 yards after breaking the deadlock is significantly more difficult than attacking from the tip off. Nevertheless, the Giants' coach's determination in making that decision is commendable; after all, in that moment, every choice carries risk. However, I still think they should have gone all out for the win then
Honestly - an incredibly lucky win. And a gift from the Giants. No bad wins in this league, but man that was ugly. Letting Jameis Winston torch you over and over and over and over? A second string and deeply flawed QB on possibly the worst team in the NFC. Not impressive and does not bode well.
I sure want to understand why they had to burn their second time out after an incomplete pass. Also, I would liked to have had them call their final time out instead of running up and clocking on that final drive in regulation. That decision cost them precious seconds, and practically locked them into game tying field goal attempt instead of having a shot at a touchdown. Followed by a 5 yd loss to Gibbs and a heart stopping knuckleball off the foot of Bates. The close up of MCDC's face while the game tying field goal was in the air doing it's sprained wing, drunken duck impersonation was priceless.
Goff looked surprised the clock was running. He needs to get his head back in the game. Having babies is awesome. But the pay is for performance on the field.
I'm irrationally upset when Jamo gets few touches, even though there are many other playmakers, I simply do not understand it. The offense is so Gibbs heavy now, whether through run or pass (he's awesome, I get it) but that's part of it. And what's with all these third down screens??
Let's hope St. Brown has a better career after completing 500 catches than Michael Thomas did.

Giants had a few trick plays to make it close. Lions were the better team.
Take the dub, burn the tape, see ya on Thursday
When I think about burning tape, there's nothing to be gained from it. I think there's a ton to be gained from watching and learning from this one.
*this
Gibbs bailed us out today and may have saved the season.
About half of our roster needs to reset and find their form.
The bright side - got a W and no significant injuries.
Depends on how bad Lief's ankle turns out to be
The big concern I have is that the time management has gone to hell since Dan took over playcalling. Downright embarrassing today.

I said the same thing about the screens, "what are we doing"?
I mean, he dropped two and allowed a third to be knocked from his hands by a defender. Not his brightest day.
Gotta catch the ball.
I think Gibbs is at 6.1 yards a carry for the year. That's nuts.
Unbelievable 4th and OT after a disappointing first 3Q
Don’t know how I’m gonna get to sleep tonight, gosh what a nail biter! W is a W!
I only suffer that when this team *doesn't* win. 🙂
