Lions adding experienced OT depth, potential starting option in Michigan native Larry Borom
Allen Park — Sticking with an early focus on the team’s offensive line, the Detroit Lions came to terms on an agreement with veteran offensive tackle Larry Borom on Monday afternoon.
A Michigan native who played at Birmingham Brother Rice, Borom went to the University of Missouri as a three-star recruit. After redshirting his freshman year, Borom played 29 games across three seasons for the Tigers before being selected in the fifth round of the 2021 draft by the Chicago Bears.
The 6-foot-5, 325-pounder made 27 starts during four seasons in Chicago, seeing playing time at both tackle and guard spots.
Borom joined the Miami Dolphins on a one-year, $2.5 million deal last offseason and started another 11 games, all at right tackle. In those appearances, he allowed 15 quarterback pressures and just 2.0 sacks.
With the pending departure of Taylor Decker, who requested his release last week, Borom gives Detroit a option to compete for the vacancy in the starting lineup, along with Giovanni Manu and potentially Miles Frazier.
Following an agreement with center Cade Mays earlier in the day, it’s likely the team continues to reshape the unit via the draft, where they hold the No. 17 pick in the first round.

3 versatile OLinemen added so far this off season. Brad has set up his draft day nicely with these player acquisitions.
Looking forward to seeing what a healthy Frazier can do on the line
