I’m really bitter that we let Carlton Davis walk and replaced him with DJ Reed to save a smidge of cap space. Carlton was our only good corner since Slay and has plenty of good football left.
I’m also very dismayed that we didn’t take a corner in the first three rounds in either of the past two drafts. I like the guys we got, but we are just so desperate at corner. TA didn’t show nearly enough as a rookie to have locked him in as a future starter. And now he’s a wrap.
Maybe our pass rush takes a huge leap and our corners get some relief. Here’s hoping!
Another aspect of this thing not being reported is that both the women were 19, the victims were teenagers, and the the male defendants were mostly even older than Arnold, most in their mid to late 20s. That’s according to Tampa.gov if anybody cares to check. So to me that translates into grown men with power money prestige and influence sexually manipulating teenage girls and beating teenage boys. Was it beyond the resources of the Lions organization to figure out at least these public facts before recently proclaiming “we’re good…”?
It’s a good day not to be a journalist, or at least one on vacation. Because somebody needs to get to the bottom of what the front office knew and when they knew it. The DC/TA body language a few days ago sure looked like somebody knew something.
Police and prosecutors love jailhouse snitches/plea-bargainers-for-leniency no matter how unreliable they are. I suspect if they had actual evidence they would have arrested him some time ago. Even if TA is found not guilty, this will haunt him forever.
I remember being at the live draft hearing him say “I’m home!” and the reaction of the crowd and the way I felt at that moment, never could’ve imagined anything like this and it sounds more likely than not that home will be an unpleasant place in the days and years to come for him.
Such an unfortunate situation that could’ve been avoided if handled differently, also unfortunate for sports in general and the team in particular as things like this happen so frequently.

I’m glad most of us have recognized with empathy what a difficult situation this is and that allegations are solely allegations until a judge or jury finds otherwise.

There's nothing to do. The cap relief from his rookie contract is not that much, especially since much of the remaining cap hit would be dead money if they drop him. You let the thing play out and don't count on having him.
Well, I guess he can practice covering Henry Ruggs while awaiting his trial. This sucks. Reading the report, he definitely could be innocent, but man, the people he hung out with...wow.
i am speaking on a relative basis. a sicko just raped his daughter who she then committed suicide and the judge gave him a one year sentence. we need more consistency in an ideal world
To finally get to the NFL and be selected as a first round pick then loose it all because of a bone head decision. I was hoping he could come out of this mess without destroying his life and his career. It’s sad for this young man and his family not just because of everything that was thrown away but his life will never be the same. Some young men mature at an early age while some never do. I hope he comes out of this a better person but prison is not the place to try and turn your life around. It’s a terrible situation for everyone involved.
Money and youth can be a toxic compound. It can lead to thoughts of grandiosity and entitlement. The notion that a tight family is enough to get these youngsters through this geometric leap in achievement is often unfounded. In most cases they are the golden goose, the emperor with no clothes. More than anything they need good representation, a shepherd to guide and nurture their newfound success. It’s sad, tragic really, but we see this too often with these kids - nobody around them to tether their confused feelings and impulses on a road they always wanted but have no idea how to walk on.
Any chance Kenny Moore gets a phone call as a result? Wondering if he fits schematically and works with our remaining FAAB.

Criminal behavior, when found guilty, can be punishable to vastly different degrees depending on geographical location (state or county wise).
