After three years of needling questions about getting an edge rusher to pair with Aidan Hutchinson, Brad Holmes was in a great mood after landing Derrick Moore.
Can't help but wonder if we missed on the right edge rusher. Zion Young was there, taken in the next pick by Baltimore. I have to wonder if the Lions went with the guy from Michigan to create more fan excitement, more fan interaction. Or Moore fits more of what the Lions need out of that other edge. It'll all play out and we'll see who made the right choice.
The Baltimore coach was DC at M Moores first 2 years. Also DL coach at Baltimore also was at M and coached Moore. Pretty sure Detroit snuck in and got him right in front of Baltimore.
Well...they just drafted a linebacker from Michigan with their next pick.
I'll let you guys tell me he was the best fit in this slot. Do not think they don't like those Michigan connections. I'm still wondering about our missing 3rd round picks because he felt the need to go get TeSlaa last year- a Michigan native/Detroit Lions fan.
I am clear that they are drafting to win, but...I'm just reporting what my eyes are seeing. I think that it helps push their decision on close calls.
there might be excitement at the time of the pick but in the end, lions fans only care about how good the player is and winning once camp starts. we look at them as lions and not razorbacks or trojans. holmes knows it is all about winning
There are very genuine concerns from both the Mizzou folks on top of a DUI. Ravens drafted “I’m good” Mike Green last year too. I vastly prefer BH’s approach.
I have my disagreements with some of Holmes’ philosophies and moves from time to time, but he’s done a great job overall. I also appreciate his sense of humor and genuine nature. The previous regime just shut out the media and fans and even if they did win, it was just a bad culture.
Brad and Dan are just good humans and it makes a difference.
You have to like the fact the man can show his sense of humor with the media.
👍
If it’s true that he was the #1 guy on their board going into Day 2, I’m even more intrigued to see him on the field. LFG!

I don't think that generating fan excitement is one of the boxes players check for the Lions.

Character issues with Young.

Hopefully he brings more than their last 2nd round edge pick Paschal.
I’m grateful it’s not another broken player who’s a first round grade
But with a big injury asterisk
But I'd be happy if they dealt, say, next year's 3rd and one of their 5ths this year to snap up McCoy.
Peg Leg McCoy ?
Kids a football player..
