Hopefully our new return man.

Seriously, giving away picks to move up and get . . . a receiver??? Three 3rd rounders for one last time wasn’t enough??

I forgot to delete the second line there, so disregard it please

Trading up for him obviously means Brad REALLY likes him and likely has a plan for him.

Every draft pick is a four-year investment. If you're primarily viewing a Day 3 pick through the lens of how do they help immediately, you've got the wrong lens.

Well yeah, that’s the point. When you look at what they have under contract in WR room over 4 years it’s a lot of firepower. Not true for other rooms. It’s a lot of capital to shove another one in.

I don't agree that the last pick in the fifth round and a mid-sixth rounder is much capital for a WR4 with a lot of special teams juice (gunner and return reps). Raymond was getting $3 million+ per year to fill that role. They got a stopgap in Dortch, but this gives you another option.

I hear you and I get it . I’m just not a BPA purist and I guess it hit that nerve. If it’s early rounds, I’m a whole lot more comfortable with it. And I understand it’s an ideology. It’s just that if you’re gonna bundle a couple of pics to take a shot at feeding a pipeline my preference is not returner and gunner right now. I think it’s just hard for me to believe that there wasn’t an option to go after to feed a different room with bigger need.

Craig, who do you have returning kicks and pints next year? We were abysmal this year.

Well now you’re just being logical. You don’t understand. Emotionally, I need to criticize the front office for past BPA purity moves because I’m not mature enough to let it go. Pretending/fantasizing I know better about drafting even though I have zero qualifications is strangely a fun way for me to feel connected to the team. If you take this pick away from me I have nowhere else to go with BPA criticism. So I’m going to irrationally hold onto this for another day or two before I let it go and shift into obsessing about the depth chart. Thank you for playing along. PS Lovett

So he’ll develop behind Dortch and then replace him next year.

If he can push Lovett off the roster...I think the short shifty receiver is covered in Detroit. Not a fan of the pick when we are lacking depth at DT could use a TE to push Zylstra off the roster...etc.

With the new return rules, having a top notch return man is very important. Nothing wrong with spending a pick to improve special teams.
