Is it frustrating cover Brad's press conferences? He's not supposed to give anything away before the draft and can't diss players he just signed. And he's so good at saying nothing. And if he does hint at anything, you don't realize it until after he's made a move.

I love your analysis and I appreciate your insights. I always listen to the press conferences before I read your articles on them. I like comparing what I think I'm hearing to your opinion.

What drives me crazy is that some of your compatriots insist on trying to "trick" Holmes into revealing his plans. Asking the same question three different ways is not going to get him to reveal their draft board, rankings or how many OTs they have a first round grade on. Thank you Justin for being way too professional than that.

I think there's value in re-asking a question where there's intentional avoidance. Obviously, each situation is different and you have to weigh whether you're going to get anywhere, but it's a frequently helpful device and often nets more meaningful answers when reframed.

I understand what you're saying and more importantly, why you're saying it. However, there were definitely repeat questions that even I knew weren't going to answered. Ask them once because it has to be asked. Asking repeat questions that you know aren't going to be answered is really a waste of time. It would be different if BH gave you guys all the time in the world, but he doesn't.

I wish there was more nuance regarding BPA/need. Like certainly Holmes isn't going to draft 8 OTs.

But maybe he'd draft 2. Or maybe he'd consider need when he's looking at a position he's already filled, but there's a talented player available. I mean, for example, let's say the Lions are at pick 17 and have essentially even grades on the top OT and top EDGE. Who would he take in that situation? How much better does a player have to be to force his hand? Team need has to fit into the conversation there at some point. That's the convo I'd like to have some day.

Fans will never know for sure what his strategy is, because if you know then so does the competition. The draft is such a cloak and dagger affair, it is only to the teams detriment that fans know what he's thinking. Lot of wasted energy trying to devine his draft strategy.

I would also like to know what “tips the scales” in that regard. Another example, in the same vein, what if they (too) believe that Love is a “weapon” that “fits” and is “a Lion” etc etc…and he falls to 17?….

Certainly with Gibbs already here and all they just went through with Montgomery there’s no way they’re taking a RB in the 1st (or even 2nd) round. Is “need” not factored into BPA then too?

I don't think I've ever been so nervous about a draft.

Might that be due to perceived overall decreased prospect quality or some other reason?

It's primarily because we desperately need to pull 2 starters from the draft, and Holmes philosophy (and comments) are definitely not screaming O-Line or Edge help are necessarily in his plans if he sees, say, a WR he loves. I guess.

I get it. If it makes you feel any better I’ll let you worry for the both of us. 🙂

He better cook like Wolfgang Puck if we're gonna have a decent O-Line and some edge pressure.

He's done what appears to be a good job so far this off season. Borom and Mays are in the fold, he added Ratledge and Frazier last year. Given the constraints he's got to work within, as laid out by Justin, id say it could be a pretty good year. There are a lot of OLine prospects in the draft and some edge candidates as well. What concerns me mor is potentially having to backfill Kerby & BB.
