On deck: After NFC Championship run, upstart Commanders decimated by injuries, reeling
Allen Park — After a soul-crushing loss to the Washington Commanders in the playoffs last season, it wouldn’t have been unreasonable for the Detroit Lions or the team’s fanbase to have this weekend’s revenge opportunity circled when the NFL released the schedule back in May.
However, now, it doesn’t feel like a get-back game as much as a get-right game for Detroit.
The Lions are licking their wounds, literally and figuratively, after an embarrassing post-bye loss to the Minnesota Vikings. But compared to the Commanders, life seems pretty good.
While Detroit dropped to 5-3 on the season, and the team is pretty banged-up along its offensive line, everything is ablaze in D.C. It’s the opposite of what the franchise likely envisioned as an encore to last year’s run to the NFC Championship.
