Allen Park — The last time the Detroit Lions saw the New York Giants, the teams fought their way through a pair of joint practices during last year’s training camp, earning a $200,000 fine per side.

The Lions would go on to win 15 games, while the Giants stumbled to a 3-14 campaign, the franchise’s worst since winning three games in 2017.

A year later, life as a Giants fan is still pretty rough. Many of the things that warrant excitement are currently out of commission.

Ultra-talented wide receiver Malik Nabers? He’s done for the year with a torn ACL? Rookie running back Cam Skattebo, the energetic wrecking ball who racked up 400 yards and five scores in his first eight games? He’s sidelined until next season after dislocating his ankle.

And quarterback Jaxson Dart, who breathed much-needed life into the franchise after taking over for the husk of Russell Wilson? Well, there’s a chance the rookie might be back this week, but he’s in concussion protocol after his head smacked off the turf at the end of a run in Week 10 against the Bears.

How bad are things for the Giants? If they lose to the Lions this Sunday, they’ll be the first team officially eliminated from postseason contention.
