Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell, receivers coach and assistant head coach Scottie Montgomery and offensive line coach and run game coordinator Hank Fraley met with the media on Wednesday. Here are the highlights from those sessions.
Watching the pressers I hear you catch what Fipp was saying about the future of returners and how they will be looking at injury data. In the end I expect a returner on kickoffs has the same chance of being injured as he does when he plays offense.
Got to believe you are right, Jamo's ears did perk up and why not if the injury risk isn't elevated. Consider the reward, if they put JaMo and Gibbs back there would teams take the chance the ball doesn't get past the end zone to start at the 35 or just kick it out of bounds and go from the 40.
Reading about the separate plays if ARSB is in or if he is out. I wonder if that’s what happened on the play where he Jamo were both at the same spot. Did Jamo run the play that was installed as if ARSB was out?
Justin, reading about Zylstra brought up a question. How many of the official returns from IR have the Lions used this year? I've read differing opinions. Just curious.
Anyone hurt this week or later won't matter toward regular season count. Last spot, if used, could be for Wright. I guess Cunningham, but haven't heard anything about him for weeks.
Seems like if Frank Ragnow wanted to come back for a while now, then he'd be all in for 2026. Unless it's a secret, it sure would be good to let the Lions know so they can plan accordingly. I'm just disappointed it didn't happen and that no one is saying it's "on" for next year.
I think part of the reason he was coming back was because the Lions were having trouble replacing him and a promising season was going down the drain. He could come back for a handful of games and make an impact.
With two full offseasons to replace him and facing a whole offseason, training camp and 17+ games I think it’s probably less likely. But man do I hope I’m wrong.
Wondering if franchise tagging Branch may work for everyone. Guaranteed money for one season, someone can give up 2 picks for him (won’t happen) and if he comes back full go, you can sign him the following season.

Thanks for sharing the human interest side of football.
Thanks! That all makes sense. Sounds like we're both hoping he'll be back. Hopefully Mahogany, Ratledge and others will solidify as time goes on.

Six: Thomas, Dorsey, Reed, Davenport, Zylstra, Mahogany.
Probably Manu next week will be seven.

Fraley 2026 OC? Hmmmm
Loving that idea.
