I just watch game, couldn't watch it live. I dont know how this game was so close! Lions left lot of points on field....should have scored 35 pts today.

Not sure why but always get a kick out of Lefluer when he gets made.

A win is a win. BTW, D backs took a step forward. That was cool.

I have been waiting 68 years to see a game like this. Lose two fumbles, Goff throws a pick that is flagged, Green Bay misses 2 short field goals, every questionable call goes for the Lions, 5 passes go off hands of Packer receivers, and despite handsy coverage, no Lions are called for pass interference. You commit cranial rectal inversion by going for it on 4th down on your own 24. The Lions should have lost. But, you know what? I can handle being a Packer fan for a few days. I hope Packer fans enjoy being a Lions' fan for six.

First time in my life I emailed the TV station to complain about an ad. Don’t want to get into a political discussion, but also don’t need my daughter seeing that crap when we’re just trying to watch a game.

I live in Kenosha, Wi and after the Lions win, it was VERY quiet in my neighborhood.... with the exception of myself and my grandson who is also a Lions fan!

You’ve helped to make my day 😁

Also feel like the OL underperformed today. Maybe the acclimation with Mays at C? Hopefully they're more in sync next week against the Vikings.

I'm not in the business of making individual assessments of a unit out of a live game. There's too much nuance. That's what Tuesday's film reviews are for.

Both teams could have won, and both teams deserved to lose. Just came down to chance as to which team won. The announcers played it up like it was a exciting, nail-biting game. It was really a stomach turning game. For both fan bases, and any other fans who watched. Sure wouldn't extrapolate either of these teams as Super Bowl contenders based on those performances.

We won by 2 fingers and a middle one for good measure on the field goal.

I lost some respect for Brady today. Brady would have been crying for the same calls if he were Goff.

The Lions are lucky that GB was down to their third center and missing multiple defensive starters. Clown win.

Next week nobody cares that the Packers were missing several key players when they lost to the Lions. NOBODY.

That being the case, why should you care? If the question itself weren’t rhetorical, the answer would be easy: You shouldn’t care either.

They might have something with that rookie C. He played well.

Since when is winning a clown? Are you Trolling?

That was not exactly entertaining. But hearing Packer fans and the horrific announcing team bitch all game long about the calls, when the Lions have been fucked over by this league for decades, makes it all too sweet. Awful job today by Petzing, though. Left 3 touchdowns out there, even without the turnovers.

My friend, a Dolphins fan had this to say about that 4th down decision.

> I thought that was stupid at first … but then I looked at the clock. I think it might actually have been a smart play. There was little chance, even if they went the length of the field, that they were going to run out the whole game clock … so then Green Bay would get the ball and could theoretically come back and win it and leave no time for the Lions.

> By going for it, he was not only having confidence in his team, but, if they didn’t get it, Green Bay had a short field and couldn’t bleed the clock. Even if they scored, then the Lions (as long as they don’t fuck it up) could bleed the clock with one final drive.

I kind of liked the 4th down call in Q4. My read was if they fail, GB gets the ball deep and it's potentially less time off the clock. Even if they scored the TD, Lions get the ball back with control of the clock on offense. A punt puts GB farther back, but with the chance to run their 4 minute offense and bleed the clock.

I was ok with as well, except for a different reason: at the time I just felt like if they can’t even get a yard they don’t deserve to win, so just go for it. Myopic, I know, but I can’t deny what I was feeling.

John Lawton's avatar

Didn’t mind the call, but the play call, like most of them today, mindless.

Ryan Higa's avatar

I feel like most will call it a reckless decision, but it felt fairly calculated.

I think the biggest problem was the Packers had been getting interior penetration all game. So while the odds may have pointed it to be the right call, that's in a vacuum and not reflective of the game's rhythm.

Thanks for this observation. And I love that this community has commenters who actually think things through.

Thought the same thing, it ended up being good clock management. Ultimately we beat up a good packers team with our O and D and finally...won!! Great win!!

Agree with all that. The fourth down call I hated was not taking the 3 on the 4th and 5 Jamo was pushed out of bounds. If they just take the 3, GB field goal to get to 17 doesn't tie it, and if they scored a TD eventually to take a 1 pt lead, a FG wins it for Detroit, instead of needed a td

A reasonable perspective.
