The defining characteristic of these Detroit Lions continues to be their resilience. After a rough loss in KC, and down most of their starting secondary, the Lions led start to finish in Monday's victory.
I’m far from sold on Morton. It seems the routes are clogged more than not, and Goff needs a lot of time for plays to develop. Hopefully there’s some conversations about that over the next two weeks.
My biggest peeve with him is he does those roll out pass plays where there's only 1 place the ball can go to wayyyyyyy too often. And when they're covered it's not exactly Goff's strength to do something after.
All of those guys in the secondary balled out. Before this game, Whiteside had 15 career defensive snaps, all of them in 2023 with the Commanders. Hallett, as Justin noted, had zero. And there was no weak link, that I could see. The Lions were blessed with the version of Mayfield that is woefully inaccurate downfield, and that helped, too.
Kelvin is smart enough to know he has a lot to learn and will probably follow Ben's example of staying at least one extra year and finding a team and ownership that will have the patience to build a team step by step. AG is pretty much where MCDC was his first year, except AG has Fields and no extra first round picks. We will see if the Jets are willing to wait and actually get good.
TB’s Mike Evans suffered a broken clavicle/collarbone.
Awful.
Lions have built depth on D!
Legion of Whom, baby
Pretty good.

Gotta find something to complain immediately after a 15 pts win over a 1-loss team.
How about - it was a great get-right game against a really good football team whse defense can be quite disruptive at times.

Beautiful...no stress, enjoyed every beer with my dogs. The d-backs were awesome!
Nice to see Alim make an impact when he was in there! Great time for the bye
Whiteside had a great game too! Notable the defense kept Tampa, now a 5-2 team to only 9 points. Go Lions!

(snap counts from Pro Football Reference.)
I'd argue having the defensive line in his face all night impacted Mayfield's accuracy
I swear that 4th quarter took three hours to play. Not a masterpiece, and it should have been 34-0 at halftime. But no matter. 5-2 is great.
You have to give this game to the coaches on the defense. They looked incredibly well prepared. Played their butts off. Great job by all that played
I respectfully disagree. Gotta give it to the players.
Both
Is it too soon to worry about who is going to replace Kelvin Sheppard after he gets a head coaching job?
The Jets are going to be looking. But that's a hellhole with that ownership.
"Kelvin? You've got a call from Brick Johnson."
