The Chiefs will always be a tough opponent as long as Mahomes has time to scramble until a receiver gets open. The Eagles showed us the blueprint for a win, but it takes an elite defensive line to contain him.
The Lions' defensive line is only very good, so I expect they'll be swinging and missing as much as the Tigers have since the All-Star break.
This means the Lions' offense will need to shift into "outscore" mode. My prediction: Lions 38, Chiefs 35. Just be aware that outscore mode could always turn into a Lions vs Commanders playoff type turnover fest so all bets are off.
"Detroit took the lead on a David Montgomery touchdown midway through the fourth quarter and got two defensive stops to preserve the statement victory,"
Yes, after Dan Campbell put his Big Onions in overdrive and called a fake punt on their own 17 or so. Ah, memories...
It's remarkable how a handful of coaches and players keep them going. That said, I simply do not believe a team can go very far when their rushing attack is led by Patrick Mahomes. Pacheco is a very tough back, but there's something wrong there.
“And the unit remains anchored by three-time All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Smith, who also missed the 2023 opener, not due to injury, but coming off a contract-related holdout.”
Take note that Trevor Lawrence used a double stumblebum in the last 30 seconds of the game on Monday to run for the winning TD. It probably wasn't planned, but it sure did the trick. All those close score wins for the Chiefs they had last year are working in reverse this year.
The last time they rattled off those wins...was the last time and has nothing to do with this year. Let's have no rattling please unless it is the Lions rattling Mahomes into submission.
The Chiefs don't have much of a run game outside of #15 scrambles. The Lions have to keep him in the pocket just like they did with Lamar.

The amount of turnover is crazy. Testament to the Chiefs for getting it done in the last years for sure.

Put Mahomes on any functional team and they are an immediate playoff contender.
Chris Jones did a lot of loafing MNF against the Jags. Let’s hope for the same SNF.

Should be Chris jones if it matters
