Allen Park — Here are five thoughts to end the week as the Detroit Lions prepare to host the New York Jets on Sunday.

Bad Thursday, worse Thursday

What happened last Thursday probably still bothers you. How could it not? It was an ugly loss. In particular, it was an ugly defensive performance in an early-season measuring-stick matchup against a Super Bowl contender.

That sting won’t fade until the Lions get things back on track, but what happened last night, in Green Bay, probably elevated your mood. It’s a good reminder that we don’t really have a feel for the league right now, and things could absolutely be far worse than sitting 1-1 heading into a home matchup against the Jets.

We didn’t even need to see Green Bay fall on its face in its home-opener to make that second point. No, the Los Angeles Chargers provided all the ammo needed.
