East Rutherford, N.J. — This deep into training camp, when it comes to how the roster is shaping up, there are things you know, things you think you know and things you still have no idea.
When the roster gets pared to 53 later this month, the Detroit Lions have more than three dozen spots that could be classified as no-doubters, only subject to change if there’s a serious injury. But there are still a handful of jobs up for grabs, and more if you count the 16-man practice squad.
So with the first preseason game in the books, let’s offer our initial projection on how this thing might come together at the end of this month.
Quarterbacks (3)
In: Jared Goff, Nate Sudfeld, Hendon Hooker
Work to do: None
Thoughts: There will be people who watched the preseason opener incapable of understanding previous reports stating Sudfeld was far and away the better backup quarterback choice through the first three weeks of camp. Trust me, I get it.
