Allen Park — Nike unveiled eight NFL Rivalries uniforms on Tuesday morning, including a new look for the Detroit Lions that will be worn for the team’s Week 8 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.
The all white setup will be paired with the team’s pre-existing alternate blue helmet.
The jersey includes black numbers, slanted to create the illusion of motion, with a Honolulu blue outline. Above the number, in the same blue hue is the word, “Detroit.”
There are also black and blue accents on the shoulders, as well as the white pants.
Notably, the black on both the uniform and helmet have a carbon fiber pattern that gives off tire tread vibes, even if not the stated intent.
“(The) carbon fiber within the decals texture symbolizes elite performance and connects to Detroit’s car and racing culture,” Nike’s press release said.
In addition to the Lions, the three other teams from the NFC North, as well as the entire AFC South division launched new Rivalries looks. This is the second year of the program, with the AFC East and NFC South being introduced last season.
