Coaching and personnel management/development once foreign to this org is top drawer today. Kudos to team leadership. 👍

So glad to see Jamo got signed! I haven't forgotten watching him at Alabama and his gamebreaking abilities. Sometimes we forget that scoring points is still the goal in this game and Jamo can do that from anywhere on the field at anytime. Talent like the kind he has does not come around very often, hold onto it while you can.

I am thinking that this excellent contract is set up perfectly to make him prime choice trade bait for some high picks in the future when they start to hit the cap wall.

Good contact and move that, from a team perspective, balances all known variables - performance, unique skill set, injury, off-field, team cap situation. All you can do is make the best decision you can based on the information you have at the time you make it. Looking through that rubric, it’s a good deal. The “risk”? Go back to Holmes, who has invoked quote that “risk is what’s left over when you think you’ve thought of everything.” So yeah, there’s a risk. But from a contract perspective I think it’s a better deal for the Lions than for Jamo, and that works from a team building perspective.

Interesting timing but I trust Brad and Dan with this decision. Could be a bargain down the road but sure sounds like they have a lot of faith in what he is going to do which is exciting. I want Jamo to be successful and that means the team is too. Thanks Justin and Go Lions!

So this makes me happy because in many ways Jamo is the most likable person on the team. He has the most infectious smile and joy playing and he plays hard.

Wow awesome news headed into the game! Something other than Parsons for the talking heads!!

Unbelievable news on multiple levels. The numbers on this are going to be so interesting and can go in so many ways right now it's not worth speculating but the numbers we are seeing sure sound great.

What I really like is what it says the Lions are thinking about his development because what he was doing last year was good, but it wasn't top 20 WR good. They have to feel pretty confident in what he is about to be and maybe just as important they must believe he is maturing.

BTW, Scotty Montgomery has a lot to do with all of this,

Exactly. Scotty really likes the steps Jamo is taking. Plus he helps the run game too because of his speed. They didn’t want a great season and then sign him. He makes our offense dangerous because of his speed. An aggressive runner! Go lions

Maybe this is their all-in move. I think the key to Jamo's continued success will be the ability of the O-line to keep Goff off the ground or running for his life. Between St. Brown, Jamo, Laporta, Gibbs and the new guy, that will make for quite a few targets of opportunity. If Jamo blows the doors off expectations, he surely would have cost much more a year from now.

Definitely a shocker on the timing. Doesn’t sound like there is guaranteed money involved, so not a gigantic risk, if he continues to push to the front of the line and becomes a top ten guy in the league. Feels a little premature, but Brad has always viewed Jamo like a unicorn, even though he has only sometimes played that way. Hopefully this act of faith locks that in. Any chance that the Lions paying for potential rather than performance could cause any rifts with his teammates?

There are a lot of guarantees involved. I'll wait until the details are filed with the league, but reports are that more than $60 million is guaranteed.

Also, all NFL contracts pay for future production, not past production. This is actually a below-market deal in that regard. There's no chance this causes rifts in the locker room. It's difficult to convey how beloved Jamo is with his teammates. His teammates will be thrilled.

Excited Waymo will be around longer, but interested and a bit anxious what this means for Hutch, Gibb, Laporta, Branch Etc.

Hopefully with this being a “reasonable” WR 2 deal that means with anticipated salary cap increases we can keep everyone

I fear LaPorta will be the odd man out, not because of his production but because of his position. The difference between star and journeyman isn't that vast at tight end, but a big dropoff at those other positions can be disastrous.

Laporte will excel this season. They will somehow get him/keep him

One thing I left out was Ragnow's retirement. That freed up some space to operate, as well.

Is that savings offset a little by the fact that Glasgow looks like he could stick around next year with that 8 mil cap hit. Of course this is dependent on him having a good season.

Really, so many questions to be answered Salary Cap wise it seems silly to do some kind of salary cap analysis, but I sure want to

It's too early for me to speculate on Glasgow's 2026 status. I think you need to see where he's at physically, both performance and health, the development of Frazier behind the scenes, and what the free agency/draft looks like for interior o-line talent.

Every contract is a gamble (injuries being the biggest risk factor). As Justin makes clear, the two year delay creates a huge discount to overall risk. This is a brilliant signing and one more data point indicating how masterful Holmes is at his job.

The risk factor for Jamo that worries me is the off the field stuff. Really hoping their investment in his character and his continued maturation will help him stay on the field for a whole season for once. I would have liked to see a year without suspensions before committing but I’m trusting they see what they need to feel solid about this.

The comment was essentially what I addressed: fear about a contract for $27 million per year for a player whose performance may or may not improve enough to deserve a big contract. I don't think there's anything disrespectful in my reply. If you disagree, let me know and I'll try to figure out what I need to adjust. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Apologies, that was not the implication, Robert. Merely a general statement about etiquette while acknowledging the comment was self-deleted.
