"Campbell said one thing that does concern him in the evaluation process is when the practice tape is good and a player is unable to transfer that success to the exhibition games"
Tough to suggest many guys not worthy of a 53 elsewhere are better than what you have, particularly when you factor in the value of familiarity. Maybe a DB.
I wonder how many of the more than 10,000 players cut in the last ten years resulted in a cut player eventually making a go of it in the NFL? We have statistics for everything else, so why not this? What are the odds?
A lot of good nuggets here. If you want to know what the change of culture has been reread the quote from Dan about telling the guys who don't make the 53. Pure gold. The part about good practice tape not translating into preseason games...see Hendon Hooker.
You really couldn’t read that sentence without Hendon Hooker screaming off the page. My only question on Hooker is whether they would sign him to PS. Honestly I think there will be better QB3 options out there.

Two QBs on the roster then?
It's been pretty apparently heading that way since Saturday, and probably sooner than that.
You don't mention the benefit of a change in scenery when talking about a player otherwise.
Justin what's the schedule this week? Treat like a bye week? Two weeks on GB game plan?
No practice until next week.
Justin, do you think there will be any veteran centers cut that could provide some depth for the Lions?

If you have had to fire people, you know what the feelings are for both people.
Total professional and class act is Dan Campbell. There’s a reason players want to play for him.

Kalif Raymond is proof that getting cut is not necessarily the end.

Agreed that my immediate thoughts went to Hooker.
I was watching the press conference on YouTube (great question!) and felt in the moment that he was directly addressing Hooker as well.
