Gibbs should do whatever he needs to to get paid. Any player's career can end on a single play, but running backs especially. He has done a great job and deserves a top of the market deal.
Give him $82.4 mil over 4 years, 60 mil guaranteed and be done with it. Waiting will only cause more stress on a bloating payroll. I can understand them waiting on Branch. Laporta is kind of iffy since he is about ready to go...but how far? I can see them losing Laporta and Branch or at least one of them.
There's no way to know. They're represented by different people and the conversations between representation and team are happening simultaneously but separately.

In both those cases, I think you can conclusively say “this guy is better than the other guy”
I honestly prefer Gibbs skill set but the case could be made for either as the better rb at this point. But these guys are are closely matched in terms of quality as I can remember in2 players.
A little disappointing, given his comments regarding his contract a little while ago, but not surprising. I'll never be mad at a player for trying to make as much money as possible playing this super dangerous game while they can.
I think a lot of it is trusting your agent. It's why you hired them, and you know, if the advice is bad, they're putting their professional relationship with their client on the line.
Gibbs doesn't have anything to prove, but plenty to lose if he suffers a serious injury out of the blue. Can happen to anyone at any time, so they're going to go safe-not-sorry route.

Is this more of a "likely to sign extension in the immediate" holdout, or a "waiting on Bijan to sign first" holdout?

Inevitable, and understandable from his POV. Kind of tiresome from a fan perspective, as this stuff is just non-stop, all the time, in every sport.
