Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell offered a mix bag of injury updates, but more good news than bad, the day after his team upended the Cleveland Browns, 34-10.
The fact that we've been hit with a rash of injuries at one position doesn't preclude criticism of lack of depth at another position. If Branch and Kerby get hurt in the same game: Should have been complaining about safety depth! If Gibbs and D-mo get hurt in the same game: Should have been complaining about RB depth!
You don't often lose the two of two starters in one position in a single game. Yes, that makes the CB room suddenly an emergency, just like it would if you lose 2/2 starters in any position group.
That doesn't mean entering the season with the edge depth the way it was was a good idea.
After initial concern about Lions (post GB), I now think they’re good enough to make the tournament. Hopefully, our injuries will heal and we will be at our best come playoffs.
When a safety returns to finish the game, given the amount of running required of the position, it didn't really merit a question. My guess, Joseph misses practice time this week, is questionable on the practice report and plays against the Bengals. He's been bothered by his knee all offseason. This is just an extension of that.
Man I've really been curious about Frazier too. Here's hoping he can make it to at least practice at some point this year. I'd love to see if he could push for a job.
I guess this was more a next year comment, I'm not breaking down the film like you are or doing any kind of analysis, I had just noted Mahogany's pff grades are down a little and at some point Glasgow won't be around.
I also acknowledge Mahogany may have a more difficult assignment than Ratledge, as anyone playing next to Sewell seems to get a but of a bump in their production. (Though his 1 on 1s look so so good, early days)
I just want to seem him practice to get in a routine so they can say yes this is our back up interior guard. The guy is a late round pick high upside yes maybe Holmes hit it out of the park with another Mahogany like pick up but I don't see how he starts unless their is an injury. Ratledge isn't moving to Center to push Glasgow to the bench.
Not sure how the worst injury news out of all of this was a rookie not even on the field Sunday. Obviously hate that for Frazier, but otherwise I’m beyond ecstatic to hear the remaining updates!
The "why didn't Brad add another edge" folks are in shambles realizing they should have been complaining about corner depth.

Wonder if Maddox, Kerby or Branch could jump over to CB if necessary. Different skill set, I realize, but the depth there could be useful.
Just shifts the practice prep at their primary position and weakens your depth somewhere else.
No word on Kerby Joseph, ‘eh?

Gotcha.
Joseph is fine and returned to the game.
That’s what I thought. Thanks.
I wonder what the latest timeline on paschal would be? Haven’t heard in a bit, other than behind schedule
And that's the latest update. As always, EVERY injury update available is here, always: https://www.detroitfootball.net/p/latest-regularly-updated-detroit

Whose job? Glasgow is playing well, and Mahogany and Ratledge aren't giving away their spots.

Lions could use some reinforcements!!
