Thanks for this article. Often a story is focused on the players on the field. This story is different. The entire staff on and off the field have very interesting lives and a real impact on the players.

I'm always looking at the "office politics" if things and using the term "office" loosely, life is "office politics"

But looking at the coaching staff and the offensive side we have a new OC, so upper management who now has his buddy in that next level down. Meanwhile we have Scotty Montgomery that has little connection to Morton but a strong connection with the big Boss, Campbell.

Both Shaw and Scotty have had Head Coaching talk about them and have interest, both will want to "make a name" for themselves I suppose we could throw Morton in there but I'm not so sure, he could really love being an OC for this team at this point in his career.

I'm still not sure what to think about Scotty moving from RB to WR coach, probably what they say about it, just taking advantage of getting Choice in here, who is a close friend of the new DC, hmmm. I do see how this could be big for JaMo and that could be big for Scotty.

Kind of interesting that not much interest in Scotty last off-season.

Not saying anything except keep an open ear on this, there could be an issue. These are high quality people, tons of class that will say they don't have time for that nonsense, but they are human, and they are competitive and driven personalities. Plus, that have wives that wouldn't mind HC money.

Look, you guys are rolling your eyes, but this stuff matter a heel of a lot more than the 3rd Safety or what UDFA might make the team. Chemistry is extremely important in the coaching staff, even more than the locker room.

It's not will you run the ball 4 more times this year on 3rd and 9 or are you going to go against everything they have been doing and what they have been setting up their talent towards. The chemistry and "office politics" of the newly formed coaching staff will determine how well this season goes.

We have Dan Campbell with the advice of Brad Holmes making these decisions and while he has been far from perfect he has hit on plenty and he moves on quick from mistakes. That all we can ask.

With all of this being said, this was a GREAT hire.

What a great story! We won’t know until the season starts but they seem like a team of coaches all focused on one goal. Can’t wait to see it play out!

I still can’t believe we were able to get Shaw. Was a great hire!

Really enjoying the profiles as we learn about the new staff members.

Do you recognize what Shaw means when he says he and Morton “present different”? Maybe it’s easily ascertained from watching them both at the podium (which I haven’t done yet) but curious if you’ve perceived the difference in their communication style Shaw seems to reference.

I have seen both, but much more of Shaw. I personally felt like Shaw is more polished as a communicator (addressing media) without trying to throw stones. So when I read the comment, I felt like that is what he was referencing.

More about their personalities than anything football-related. We haven't talked to either enough (Morton twice, Shaw once, to offer a larger assessment on their communication styles.

I really enjoyed this one, Justin…good insight into Shaw’s background. He’s worked for some good coaches in his career!👍
