Watched and read your breakdown. It had moved the needle for me, not that I was negative per se. I simply was meh about the hire.

If only we would now add a solid senior defensive asst!

I would love to see one more vet d assistant added. I liked much of Sheppard’s first year but had my qualms as well.

He's definitely growing on me. This interview was super interesting. It's all going to come down to what players we add.

I watched the interview and read your article. Great job of putting it together. I will say he won me over. He seems like the right guy for the hire. I love his energy and his plans. I look forward to seeing what our offense can become under him. I also like his confidence and his willingness to work with Kafka, understanding that it will add to the game planning and offense.

The fact he signed up to go on the record on a podcast and answer questions on the spot says a lot about his confidence with knowledge of the game and his ability to think on the fly. Both of which are probably the two most important traits for a coordinator to have. The more I hear him speak the more I like the pick. At this point, and with no offense to Morton, but I’m feeling like it’s a big upgrade from this time last year. Petzing appears to be well equipped with his faculties. I’m

hopeful.

I watched the interview and appreciate the recap. Great get for those POD guys. I was really impressed by his approach, but maybe even more so his communication skills. He provided meaningful, substantive answers and managed to be engaging while still being diplomatic and deflecting politely when necessary. The guy seems to be a great fit and an excellent hire. He has HC potential and this is as good an opportunity as any in the lwague for him to get there if he finds success.

It was a great interview and kudos to the Lions for allowing it to happen

Watched the interview. Like the way you put this together. He’s not about forcing things. Leadership, integrity (I believe, or wouldn’t be here), flexibility and efficiency. I would be surprised if Shep and the D Team aren’t also picking his brain. Good coordinators should and great coordinators do. Thanks Justin. Appreciate your perspective.

Fine, good, cool...the O is going to be scoring 35 points a game. The D is going to be coughing up 30 points a game. The O has surged under Campbell. The D has gone backwards. Maybe it has to do with players and talent not being able to play.

His success to score “35 a game” will be dependent on Fraley’s crew. His desire to move guys at point of attack is key to our success. We need to free Gibbs and protect Goff.

A healthy defense will be fine.

I don’t know if I’m there. I saw enough in year one under Sheppard to make me hesitantly optimistic in year two. I get it though brother.

Smart and experienced guy, obviously. I like his commitment to flexibility and understanding the need to constantly be one step ahead of ever-shifting D philosophies. Great communicator, sounds like. That’s key.
